| PLAYED AT: Woolwich Memorial Centre Date: Feb 15, 2020 GAME NOTES: CANADA FALLS TO U.S. IN PARA SERIES FINALE JESSICA GOWANS ELMIRA, Ont. – Dominic Larocque (Quebec City, Que.) turned away 13 of the 15 shots he faced, but Canada’s National Para Hockey Team fell 2-0 to the United States on Saturday night to close out its two-game series. Larocque was excellent between the pipes, denying a number of point-blank chances from the Americans, first to keep the game tied, and then keep it close after the U.S. took the lead. Goaltending was the story for both sides through two periods, as neither side could break through; Larocque and U.S. counterpart Steve Cash were perfect, combining for 17 saves. The United States was the more dominant team in the first 15 minutes, outshooting Canada 7-2. Canada turned up the pressure in the middle stanza, finishing the period with a 6-2 advantage on the shot clock. The Americans broke the deadlock with a goal early in the third, an unassisted effort from Travis Dodson that stood up as the game-winner. Jack Wallace added an insurance tally late in the third. Final shots favoured the U.S., 15-10. |
