GAME NOTES: DUNN HAS FOUR POINTS TO HELP CANADA TOP KOREA AT PARA CUP JESSICA GOWANS LONDON, Ont. – James Dunn (Wallacetown, Ont.) scored once and added two assists to power Canada to a 4-0 win over Korea on Wednesday at the Canadian Tire Para Hockey Cup. Rob Armstrong (Erin, Ont), Zach Lavin (Okotoks, Alta.) and Dominic Cozzolino (Mississauga, Ont.) had the other goals, while Corbin Watson (Kingsville, Ont.) made three saves for the shutout. It marked the second win and second shutout for the Canadians over Korea in the two meetings between the teams in the preliminary round in London; Canada posted a 7-0 win in the tournament opener Sunday. It was another game where the offence was spread throughout the Canadian line-up, with eight players hitting the scoresheet. Armstrong opened the scoring in the first period; a shot from Garrett Riley (Brantford, Ont.) was stopped, but Korean goaltender Man Gyun Yu couldn’t corral the rebound and Armstrong tapped in the 1-0 goal at 10:43. Lavin doubled the lead nine seconds later. Off a turnover in the Korean zone, Corbyn Smith (Monkton, Ont.) tipped a loose puck over to Lavin, who snapped it into the back of the net. With 22 seconds left in the second period, Dunn broke into the Korean zone, skated through two defenders and flipped a shot up and over the shoulder of Yu to stretch the lead to 3-0. The final goal came off the stick of Cozzolino with less than a minute left in the third period. With Korea pinned in its own zone, he finished off a tic-tac-toe set-up from Liam Hickey (St. John’s, N.L.) and Billy Bridges (Summerside, P.E.I.) and tipped a shot past the reach of Yu. Canada finishes off preliminary-round play against the United States on Thursday (7 p.m. ET), while the Koreans face the U.S. in their prelim finale Friday (12 p.m. ET).
