PLAYED AT: Markin MacPhail Centre - WinSport Arena Date: Sep 4, 2017 GAME NOTES: WESTLAKE GETS THREE POINTS IN CAMP-OPENING WIN FOR RED CALGARY, Alta. – Greg Westlake (Oakville, Ont.) led the Red offence in its opener at Canada’s National Sledge Team selection camp, recording two goals and one assist in a 4-1 victory over Korea on Monday. Westlake opened up the scoring late in the first period, with Tyler McGregor (Forest, Ont.) and Dominic Cozzolino (Mississauga, Ont.) earning assists. Cozzolino scored the eventual game-winner on a power play less than two minutes into the second, going top shelf on Korean goaltender Man-Gyun Yu off a pass from Westlake. The Koreans came back to make it 2-1 before the end of a penalty-strewn second period, with Dae-Jung Kim netting the first goal for the Asian side. The Canadian crew served four minors in the middle frame, while the Koreans logged 16 minutes in the penalty box, including a spearing double-minor and 10-minute misconduct to Ju-Seung Lee. James Dunn (Wallacetown, Ont.) opened the third period with a goal at 1:14, shelving it in the top corner, before Westlake got his second of the game in the dying minutes, assisted by McGregor and Brad Bowden (Orton, Ont.). Red outshot Korea 16-11, with Dominic Larocque (Quebec City, Que.) making 10 saves to record the win. Action at Canada’s National Sledge Team selection camp resumes on Tuesday when White meets Korea at 2:45 p.m. MT. Red and White will each play the Korean team twice during the September Showcase. Intrasquad games featuring Red and White are scheduled for Wednesday and Saturday before the final selections are made and Canada’s 2017-18 National Sledge Team is announced.
