Game Report 1471 NWT - Fall Festival
PLAYED AT: Markin MacPhail Centre – Arena A
Date: Sep 19, 2015
GAME NOTES: BRAM’S THREE POINTS LEAD RED IN FALL FESTIVAL ROUT OF TIGERS JASON LA ROSE CALGARY, Alta. – Bailey Bram (Ste. Anne, Man./Calgary, CWHL) scored twice and added an assist, pacing the Red offence in a 7-0 win over the SEAC Tigers on Saturday at Canada’s National Women’s Team Fall Festival. Red has won all three of its games at camp, and hasn’t allowed a goal since the first period of Thursday’s opening victory over the Calgary AAA Flames – a span of 166 minutes and 24 seconds. Erica Howe (Orleans, Ont./Brampton, CWHL) made 18 saves to record her second shutout in as many days. Hayley Wickenheiser (Shaunavon, Sask./Calgary, CWHL), Kelly Terry (Whitby, Ont./Toronto, CWHL), Blayre Turnbull (Stellarton, N.S./Calgary, CWHL), Meghan Agosta (Ruthven, Ont.) and Jamie Lee Rattray (Kanata, Ont./Brampton, CWHL) did the rest of the scoring for Red. Terry was the only other player to record multiple points, finishing with a goal and a helper. The Red power play struck quickly in the first period; Wickenheiser found a rebound and beat SEAC goaltender Kayden Pickles just 2:35 in, and Terry slipped a shot past Pickles at 6:08 for an two-goal lead. Bram made it 3-0 early in the second, converting on a shorthanded opportunity, and she found Turnbull with a pretty pass from behind the net to make it 4-0 at the 12:35 mark. With the game well in control, Agosta one-timed a sweet cross-crease feed from Marie-Philip Poulin (Beauceville, Que./Montreal, CWHL), Rattray scored unassisted and a shot from Jill Saulnier (Halifax, N.S./Calgary, CWHL) went off Bram and in to cap the scoring, all within the last 10 minutes. Howe didn’t have to come up with the big save, but was solid when called upon as she ran her consecutive-save streak to 40 over the last two games. Just one game remains; Red meets White in the second intrasquad game on Sunday morning (9 a.m. MT).
